The transition from high school to higher education is a critical stage in students’ academic careers, characterized by high failure and dropout rates. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of educational innovation strategies on reducing failure rates during this transition process. A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted from the 2025-1 to 2025-3 academic years, with a sample of 50 high school seniors. A 30-item questionnaire using a Likert scale was used to identify factors associated with academic performance and adaptation to the university environment. The results showed that 80% of the students achieved grade point averages above 90 points; 18% scored between 70 and 80; and 2% failed at least one course. It was found that academic support, the use of active learning methodologies, and the strengthening of a sense of belonging significantly influence the reduction of academic failure. It was concluded that student-centered educational innovation is a key element in improving academic retention and reducing failure rates during the transition to higher education.
